Ross R. Barnett Reservoir, or “The Rez” as it is locally known, is a reservoir located on the Pearl River.  It was named after the 52nd Governor of Mississippi when it was decided to build up the Pearl River between the Counties of Rankin and Madison.  “The Rez” today is home to five marinas, 22 boat launches, four baseball/soccer complexes, two golf courses, 16 parks, five campgrounds, two multi-purpose trails, one bike trail, and three handicap accessible trails.  The trails connect the parks, housing, and shopping as well.  Within the parks, there are also plenty of outdoor recreation areas and pavilions that can be rented for special events.  There is plenty of diverse fun for all ages on “The Rez”.
